About our Founder

Doug Weist grew up on a family farm in North Central Montana, fostering a lifelong passion for agriculture. He resides on the family farm with his wife, Cindi, continuing a legacy of sustainable and innovative farming practices. In 2002, Doug earned a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biotechnology from Montana State University, building the foundation for his expertise in advancing agricultural technologies.

After graduation, Doug worked at WestBred, a cereal plant breeding company, before joining CHS, Inc., where he provided precision agriculture solutions to Montana farmers. In 2009, he broadened his horizons by working in Ukraine, gaining international experience in global agricultural practices. Upon returning to Montana, Doug founded FarmTech, focusing on delivering tailored hardware and data solutions to modern farmers.

Under his leadership, FarmTech now employs a team of five full-time professionals and serves over 500 farmers worldwide. Innovations like the Carbon Bee SmartStriker X System and the FarmTech FarmIQ Platform reflect Doug’s commitment to equipping farmers with tools for smarter, more sustainable decision-making.

When he’s not advancing precision agriculture, Doug enjoys traveling to new places and is an avid skier, exploring both on-piste and backcountry terrain.
